I Its major functions are: 1 To Carry out the country‘s and the province‘s guiding principles and policies on the management of cultural relics; deliberating and drawing up policies on the management of cultural relics and supervise their implementations. 2 To deliberat and draw up municipal developing and annual plans for the work of cultural relics， and carrying them out; organizing and guiding research on cultural relics， and pushing forward the scientific and technical level in managing cultural relics. 3 To take charge of cultural relics and museums， guiding and coordinating the protection， management， rescue， excavation， collection， expertise， research， and utilization of cultural relics; taking charge of the examination， submission and approval of the exit exhibition and propaganda; taking charge of the examination， submission and approval of key protected units of cultural relics at the city level and above; taking charge of the construction and development of museum belonging to the country， or district， or the whole city; taking charge fund for special purposes in managing cultural relics. 4 To Guid the inspection of cultural relics， cooperating with relative departments to fight against all kinds of illegal and criminal activities concerning cultural relics. 5 To Take charge of other items assigned by the Municipal Party Committee， Municipal Government and Municipal Cultural Bureau.
