I Its major functions are:
1 To organize the implementation of national and provincial policies， regulations and laws relating to the statistical work; to regulate， plan and draw up municipal statistical work policies， development planning， and statistical investigation plan and supervise its implementation; to organize， exercise leadership over， supervise the statistical work in different regions and departments of the municipal and the national economic assessment.
2 To establish and amplify municipal national economic assessment system and statistical index system; draw up municipal statistical standard， guide the statistical work of other departments according to national， provincial uniform fundamental statistical rules. To be in charge of the administration and supervision of municipal statistical investigation programs. To check the statistical investigation plans and investigation program of the counties and departments.
3 To organize general investigation of important national conditions and national power; to integrated organize and coordinate social economic investigation of the counties and the departments， gather together and catalogue municipal basic statistical materials; to statistically analyze， forecast and supervise the municipal national economy， scientific progress and social development; to provide statistical information and consulting suggestions to the municipal Party committee， municipal government， and related departments.
4 To integrated check and ratify， administrate， make public municipal basic statistical materials， regularly make known to the public the statistical information of municipal national economical and social development.
5 To establish， amplify and administrate statistical information automation system and statistical database system. To organize the implementation the basic standard and working regulations of statistical database net.
6 To administrate operating expenses used in the survey transferred by the Provincial Bureau of Statistics and the municipal， assist the county Party committee in administrating leaders and leader assistants of the county bureau of statistics.
7 Entrusted by National Bureau of Statistics and Provincial Bureau of Statistics， to administrate directly institutes affiliated to National Bureau of Statistics and Provincial Bureau of Statistics in our municipal. To organize and guide the municipal scientific research of statistics and the training of statistical workers.
8 To undertake other works assigned by the municipal Party committee and municipal government.
