The main responsibilities are:
1. To examine the problems of state administrative organs in observing and enforcing laws， rules， regulations and the people’s government’s decisions and orders;
2. To investigate and deal with the act of violating administrative discipline on the part of state administration organs， civil servants and other personnel appointed by state administrative organs; to accept and hear the appeals made by civil servants and other personnel appointed by state administrative organs against the administrative sanctions imposed by the competent authorities; to accept and hear the cases of accusing and informing against state administrative organs， civil servants and other personnel appointed by state administrative organs over the violation of administrative discipline;
3. To cooperate with relevant departments in publicizing the policies， guidelines and laws and regulations on supervision work; to be in charge of the law-abiding education to the civil servants and personnel with the administrative organs.
4. To study and do research on the policies and regulations made by the government organs of the city and its counties， and propose the revision and supplementation advice on the provisions that are contradicting to the national law and regulations; to change or delete the provisions of the regulations and decisions in the inferior supervisory organizations.
5. To cooperate with the organizations directly under the Jining Municipality and the governments of the counties in the administration of the supervision cadres; to examine and verify candidates for the supervision leadership; to be responsible for the appointment and removal of the director of the supervision office stationed in the organizations directly under the Jining Municipality; to be responsible for training the cadres of the city’s supervision system.
6. To undertake other matters assigned by the municipal government and party committee and provincial supervisory department.
